Treatment guideline: the treatment guideline should be based on the veterinary diagnosis and the local epidemiological situation. NEXGARD SPECTRA can be used as part of the seasonal treatment of fleas and ticks (replacing a drug authorized for the treatment of fleas and ticks only) in dogs in which both infestations by gastrointestinal worms have been diagnosed. A single treatment is effective for gastrointestinal worms. The effectiveness of the treatment against infestations by fleas and ticks lasts one month. Subsequent treatments may be indicated during the flea and / or tick season. Ask your veterinarian how to continue treating fleas and ticks.
Dirofilariosis: NEXGARD SPPECTRA kills the larvae of Dirofilaria inmitis up to one month after its transmission by mosquitoes. Therefore, the medication should be administered at regular monthly intervals during the time of the year when the mosquitoes are present, beginning the month following the first expected exposure to them. The treatment should be continued up to 1 month after the last exposure to mosquitoes . To establish a treatment routine, it is recommended that it be used on the same day or the same date of each month. When replacing another preventive medication for dirofilaria in a dirofilaria prevention program, the first treatment with NEXGARD SPECTRA should start on the date on which the other medication would have to be administered. Dogs that live in endemic areas of the dirofilaria (where dirofilariosis is present), op that s that has traveled to endemic areas, may be infected by adult dirofilarias. No therapeutic effect has been established against Dirofilaria inmitis adult. Therefore, it is recommended that in all dogs 8 months of age or older that live in endemic areas of dirofilaria, a test is carried out to verify the existence of infestation by a dirofilaria dulta before being treated with the medicine for the prevention of Dirofilaria.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR A CORRECT ADMINISTRATION: The tablets are chewable and appetizing for most dogs. If the dog does not accept the tablets directly, they can be administered with food.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: Special warnings for each target species: fleas and ticks need to start feeding once attached to the host to be exposed to the afoxolaer substance; therefore the risk of transmission of diseases by fleas and ticks cannot be ruled out. Resistance of the parasite to an antiparasitic of a particular class may develop after repeated and frequent use of a drug of that class.
