Target species Cats.
Indications for use, Treatment of:
Acute upper respiratory tract infections caused by sensitive strains of Pasteurella multocida, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus intermedius (including S. pseudintermedius).
-Infections of wounds and abscesses caused by sensitive strains of Pasteurella multocida and of the group Staphylococcus intermedius (including S. pseudintermedius).
Contraindications: Do not use in cats with known hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones.
Due to lack of data, pradofloxacin should not be used in kittens of less than 6 weeks.
Pradofloxacin has no effects on developing cartilage in kittens after 6 weeks. However, the drug should not be used in cats with persistent articular cartilage lesions, as lesions may worsen during treatment with fluoroquinolones.
Do not use in cats with central nervous system (CNS) disorders, such as epilepsy, as fluoroquinolones may possibly cause seizures in predisposed animals.
10 Do not use during pregnancy and lactation
Special precautions: for use in animals Whenever possible, the medicine should be used after performing a sensitivity test.
When using this medication, the official recommendations on the use of antimicrobials should be taken into account.
The use of fluoroquinolones should be reserved for the treatment of those clinical cases that have responded poorly or are expected to respond poorly to other classes of antimicrobials.
The use of the drug under conditions other than those recommended in the Technical Data Sheet may increase the prevalence of bacteria resistant to fluoroquinolones and decrease the efficacy of treatment with other fluoroquinolones due to cross-resistance.
Pradofloxacin may increase the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight. During treatment, animals should not be excessively exposed to sunlight.
Specific precautions to be taken by the person administering the drug to animals Charged vials and syringes should be kept out of the reach and sight of children due to possible harmful effects.
People with known hypersensitivity to quinolones should avoid all contact with the veterinary medicinal product.
Avoid contact of the medication with the skin and eyes. Wash your hands after using the medicine.
In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with water.
In case of contact with skin, wash with water.
Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling the medicine.
In case of accidental ingestion, consult a physician immediately and show the package insert or label.
Adverse reactions (frequency and severity) Rare and mild gastrointestinal disorders have been reported rarely, including vomiting.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or laying The safety of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation has not been demonstrated.
Gestation: Do not use during pregnancy. In rats, pradofloxacin induced ocular malformations at doses toxic to the fetus and mother.
Lactation: Do not use during lactation as there are no data on the use of pradofloxacin in kittens of less than 6 weeks. Fluoroquinolones are known to cross the placenta and are distributed in milk.
